Managing Projects

Modeller provides features which help in editing debugging and maintaining a project.

Project Summary

The Project Summary brings together all the elements of the project and displays them in a single dialog. The summary shows the status of elements in the project, and allows the properties of elements to be edited. To display the summary select the Project->Summary menu option, or the Summary button on the main toolbar.

Nodes in the tree may be edited by selecting the node and then pressing the Edit button. Or alternatively double-click a node to edit it.

Opening the Views nodes gives a list of all the project views. When a view is selected a Thumbnail Image is shown of that view. This is shown in the Thumnail Image group of the dialog.

Expanding a view node gives a list of silhouettes it contains. If a silhouette is selected then this is highlighted in the Thumbnail Image.

Expanding the Groups node gives a list of all the groups contained in the project. Expanding a Group node will give a list of silhouettes in that group.

If a project element is not included in the Build of a model, because it has been disabled or is redundant- the element will be tagged with a Not Included symbol . This is not an error, it is there to show that this element will not be used when building a model.

Project Errors

If errors are detected in the project, the summary window will highlight the problem nodes. Nodes with errors will be highlighted with an error sign , and a description of the error will be given in the edit below the tree-list. If errors are present you may select the Error Log button to see a complete list of errors, and advice on how to correct them. The following dialog is shown,

Modeller checks for errors i)When the Summary window is opened, ii) before a build takes place, and iii) if you force a check by selecting the View->Detect Errors menu option.

If a silhouette has an error you can isolate the line or point which caused the error by selecting the silhouette and then the View->Show Error menu option. This will highlight the problem line or point.

Project Information

The project information dialog contains details of the project and it's author, version details and a project comment. To view the dialog select the Project->Information menu item, or select the Information button on the main toolbar.

If the Show information when project loads checkbox is checked then this dialog will be displayed whenever the project is opened.
